Apple iPad 10th Gen 64GB, Wi-Fi

The most immediate change is the modern, all-screen design, which replaces the venerable Home button with slimmer bezels and Touch ID integrated into the top power button. It features a larger 10.9-inch Liquid Retina display compared to the 9th Gen’s 10.2-inch screen. The device uses the modern USB-C port for charging and accessories, a major upgrade from the older Lightning connector. However, it’s important to note the display is not fully laminated, which means there is a slight air gap between the glass and the LCD panel, something that may be noticeable for digital artists.

Performance and Core Specs

Powering the iPad is the A14 Bionic chip (the same as in the iPhone 12 series and iPad Air 4). While not Apple’s fastest tablet chip, it provides excellent performance for everyday tasks, media consumption, and even demanding applications like moderate photo/video editing and modern games. The base model, which is the 64GB Wi-Fi version, is suitable for users who rely heavily on cloud storage or only install a few essential apps. Apple rates the battery life for up to 10 hours of web surfing on Wi-Fi or watching video, which generally holds true in real-world moderate use.

 Cameras and Connectivity

For the first time on a standard iPad, the 12MP Ultra Wide front camera is placed on the landscape edge. This is a significant functional improvement, making the camera automatically keep the user centered (Center Stage) and facing forward naturally during video calls in landscape mode. The rear also features an improved 12MP Wide camera. Connectivity is enhanced with Wi-Fi 6 support.

 Accessory Support: A Mixed Bag

The 10th Gen iPad supports the first-generation Apple Pencil and the new, dedicated Magic Keyboard Folio. The choice of the older Pencil is controversial, as the Pencil charges via a Lightning port, but the iPad has a USB-C port. This necessitates a separate USB-C to Apple Pencil Adapter (which is now included with new purchases of the 1st Gen Pencil) to charge or pair the stylus directly with the iPad—a clumsy solution. For a simpler charging experience, the newer Apple Pencil (USB-C) is also compatible. The Magic Keyboard Folio provides a full-size typing experience and a kickstand, but adds significant cost and bulk.
